Please follow the guidelines below for installation
of systems that generate up to 2MW. The interconnection applications for Pennsylvania are classified by level
of complexity.
- Level 1 — Certified inverter based installations with aggregate
rating less than 10 kW
- Level 2 — Certified inverter based installations with aggregate rating 10kW to
2,000 kW
- Level 3 — Non-certified equipment 2,000 kW or less that will export power to PCL&P
- Level 4 — Non-certified equipment 2,000 kW or less that will not export power to
PCL&P

| Interconnection Procedure
for Level 1 |
Prior to Installation
- Applicant should send:
- a letter of authorization by customer (if the applicant is an agent for the
customer)
- Part 1 of the Level 1 Interconnection Application/Agreement
- three-line electrical schematic
- site plan
- copy of the manufacturer's data sheet and certification for the equipment
- application fee for level 1 review ($100)
- PCL&P will review the application and design.
- PCL&P will either give approval to install the system or explain why approval
was not granted.
Upon completion of installation
- Applicant should send in Part
2 of the Level 1 Interconnection Application/Agreement and proof of electrical inspection.
- PCL&P will witness the verification test.
- If the verification test is passed, PCL&P will return the executed application/agreement
to applicant. (The system should not be put in service, except for initial testing,
until after the verification test.)
- If the installation is eligible for net
metering, PCL&P will change the revenue meter.

Prior to Installation
- Applicant should send:

- Level 2, 3 or 4 Interconnection Application and Agreement
- Attachment
A – Description of Facility
- three-line electrical schematic
- copy of the manufacturer's data sheet and certification for the equipment
- site plan
- application fee
- For level 2 application, the fee is $250 plus $1.00 per kW of the nameplate
capacity rating
- For level 3 application, the fee is $350 plus $2.00 per kW of the nameplate
capacity rating
- For level 4 application, the fee is $350 plus $2.00 per kW of the nameplate
capacity rating
- PCL&P will review the application and design. We may require additional information
depending on the complexity of the design.
- If additional feasibility studies and modification to the utility distribution
system are required, PCL&P will notify the applicant and provide estimated costs
for such study and or/modification.
- PCL&P will either approve the installation, or explain why approval was not
granted.
Upon completion of installation
- Applicant should send in Attachment
B of the Level 2, 3 or 4 Interconnection Application and proof of electrical inspection.
- PCL&P will witness the verification test at a mutually agreeable time.
- If the verification test is passed, PCL&P will return the executed net metering
agreement to applicant. (The system should not be put in service, except for initial
testing, until the system has passed the verification test.)
- If the installation is eligible for net
metering, PCL&P will change the revenue meter.
