What is the New Jersey Clean Power Choice Program?

The New Jersey Clean Power Choice Program from the Board of Public Utilities' Office of Clean Energy, is a program that allows you to support the development of clean, renewable sources of energy like solar power, wind power, low-impact or small hydro power, and landfill gas power. Essentially, you pay an additional charge to help support generating plants that use renewable resources to produce clean energy.

How does it work?

If you make the CleanPower choice to participate, you will get the same reliable service from Rockland Electric and we will continue to supply your energy needs. You will continue to receive a bill from Rockland Electric that includes an additional CleanPower charge as a separate line item from the CleanPower Choice supplier you sign up with. The additional charge will vary based on your monthly energy consumption and the CleanPower supplier that you choose. For the average Rockland Electric residential customer who consumes 925 kWh per month, the additional CleanPower charge could be an additional $7 to $12 per month depending on the product you select.

How do I enroll?

Fill out the enrollment card that you will receive in your Rockland Electric bill, call 1-866-NJSMART, or visit the New Jersey CleanPower Web site. You can leave the program at any time.
